El Instituto Electoral de la Ciudad de México (IECM) participó en el Encuentro de Mujeres y Niñas “Primero las Mujeres 8M”, organizado por la Alcaldía Miguel Hidalgo, como parte de las actividades y acciones conmemorativas en torno al Día Internacional de la Mujer.
En el evento, realizado en la explanada de la Alcaldía, la Consejera Presidenta del IECM, Patricia Avendaño Durán, aseguró que todavía hay muchas barreras por derrumbar; sin embargo, reconoció que este tiempo que ahora viven las niñas, adolescentes y jóvenes ha tenido cambios significativos, gracias a muchas mujeres y hombres que han sido parte de esta lucha.
“Hubo un tiempo en que las mujeres no podíamos votar, no nos dejaban elegir a los gobernantes y mucho menos podía haber mujeres legisladoras, gobernadoras o alcaldesas. La enorme ventaja de esta época es que ustedes, niñas, jóvenes, adolescentes, mujeres que sueñan, van a poder ser legisladoras, arquitectas, astronautas o ingenieras”, expresó.
Con la presencia de la Consejera Electoral Maira Melisa Guerra Pulido, autoridades y trabajadoras de la demarcación y alumnado de diversas escuelas de educación básica y media superior, la Presidenta Patricia Avendaño aseguró que el Instituto Electoral lo que busca transmitir a las mujeres es que todas tienen derechos y uno de ellos es participar. “Somos libres y somos fuertes, y tenemos que salir adelante juntas y juntos”, subrayó.
A su vez, el Alcalde de Miguel Hidalgo, Mauricio Tabe Echartea, dijo que su gobierno está convencido de que las mujeres deben ser libres, con oportunidades para salir adelante, que el piso sea mucho más parejo; por eso, todos los días, con acciones y mensajes, las mujeres y las jefas de familia son prioridad en la demarcación.
Al agradecer la presencia del IECM en el evento, aseguró que todos los días, las mujeres demuestran que se puede ser libres y salir adelante. “Por eso tomen el ejemplo de muchas mujeres que han dado luchas y batallas para decir sí se puede y esa debe ser la consigna para que puedan cumplir sus sueños”, resaltó.
En este encuentro, participaron las Direcciones Distritales 12 y 13 del IECM, quienes instalaron stands para que mujeres de todas las edades pudieran reflexionar sobre la importancia de participar y elegir, así como para hacer valer sus derechos.
En el evento también participaron diputadas del ámbito federal y local, representantes de ONU Mujeres, y de diferentes instituciones y organismos.
