De acuerdo a la ley y conforme lo marca el reglamento, el municipio de Tlalnepantla que encabeza Marco Antonio Rodríguez Hurtado Presidente Constitucional, designó a la Lic. Verónica Gómez Sánchez como la nueva Defensora Municipal de los Derechos Humanos.
Para la selección, se registró el una terna, la cual previamente fue elegida por una comisión, quienes presentaron su plan de trabajo ante el Presidente Municipal, Síndicos, Regidores y el Secretario del Ayuntamiento, quienes después de escuchar las propuestas de la Lic. Verónica Gómez Sánchez, Lic. Lluvia de Berenice Torres González y la Lic. Leticia Bravo Sánchez, se procedió a la votación, quedando de la siguiente manera; con 9 votos, 6 y 0 votos, de 15 posibles, Gómez Sánchez, obtuvo la mayoría.
Los ejes principales propuestos para trabajar de manera inmediata fueron: la procuración de justicia pronta y expedita, la defensa de las y los menores, protección a mujeres víctimas de violencia de género, equidad para grupos, etnias y minorías, así como difusión permanente de acciones preventivas que permitan reducir y eliminar cualquier acto de discriminación o violencia.
Para garantizar que Tlalnepantla sea un territorio donde prevalezca el respeto a los derechos humanos y a las garantías individuales, es importante contar con acciones concretas que beneficien de manera directa a todas y todos los ciudadanos.
En este gobierno se busca privilegiar el respeto, la atención y el diálogo para buscar conciliaciones y la atención debida a la sociedad, buscando en todo momento la integridad y el respeto.
