La pandemia por Covid-19, el confinamiento y la poca actividad física provocaron cambios negativos en la alimentación y el cuidado del cuerpo humano, sobre todo en infantes, lo que advierte la posibilidad de desarrollar y agudizar enfermedades mortales como la diabetes, aseguró Magdalena Núñez Monreal.
En el Marco del Día Mundial de la Diabetes, que se conmemora el 14 de noviembre, la Comisionada del Partido del Trabajo de la Ciudad de México, señaló que, si bien el sector salud se enfocó en atender a pacientes con coronavirus este par de años, también ha dejado de lado otras enfermedades crónico degenerativas, así como información preventiva, alimenticia y psicológica.
“La pandemia por Covid-19 enfatizó la problemática en México sobre el sobrepeso y obesidad. El confinamiento para prevenir contagios de coronavirus produjo poca actividad física de la población, sedentarismo, mala alimentación, entre otros malos hábitos.
“Sin embargo, estas prácticas son importantes para prevenir enfermedades, como la diabetes. La buena alimentación y un buen estilo de vida pueden ayudar a evitar el desarrollo de algún tipo de diabetes, sobre todo en las niñas, niños y adolescentes, un sector que cada vez más se ve afectado por esta enfermedad, por sobrepeso u obesidad”, aseveró.
Apuntó que, de acuerdo con la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, la diabetes es una enfermedad que va en aumento en México, que podría alcanzar a más de 15 por ciento de la población mayor a 20 años. Además, en 2020 fue la tercera causa de muerte, siendo el número de decesos que causó, 151 mil 214, el más alto de los últimos años.
“Son jóvenes que, en la mayoría de los casos, cuando se practican la prueba de glucosa, se les diagnostica la enfermedad avanzada, esto porque no están informados sobre los síntomas de la diabetes o prediabetes”, indicó.
La diputada del Partido del Trabajo por la Ciudad de México, subrayó que se debe “tener acceso a medicinas y tecnologías para controlar y prevenir la diabetes, educación para el autocontrol e información”, pues estas, apuntó, “son piezas claves para conseguir resultados favorables sobre esta enfermedad”.
La petista señaló que el exceso de sed, la producción vasta de orina, la fatiga al realizar actividades básicas y el oscurecimiento en pliegues de la piel, son algunos síntomas que, en ocasiones, la población no sabe que son producto de una prediabetes o diabetes crónica, que se debe a la falta de información sobre este padecimiento.
Ante esta situación y en el marco de la Día Mundial de la Diabetes, Núñez Monreal expresó que “es importante que las personas que tienen algún factor de riesgo tal como obesidad, colesterol o triglicéridos altos, herencia en enfermedades, fumadores y sedentarios se realicen una prueba de glucosa, así como tener información por parte de las instituciones de salud y el Gobierno de la Ciudad para prevenir y controlar esta enfermedad, la cual es la segunda con más muertes en nuestro país”, concluyó.
