La Presidenta de México, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, destacó que la reunión con el Presidente de la Confederación Suiza, Guy Parmelin, fue muy productiva y en ella acordaron iniciar conversaciones sobre el tratado comercial entre ambas naciones, además de constatar la confianza de empresarios suizos en nuestro país y la voluntad de fortalecer inversiones en diversos sectores.
“A nombre del pueblo de México, enviamos un saludo afectuoso al pueblo de Suiza y con ese mismo espíritu vamos a seguir ampliando y diversificando nuestras relaciones con todas las regiones del mundo”, puntualizó en un mensaje conjunto a medios realizado en el Salón de la Tesorería de Palacio Nacional.
La Jefa del Ejecutivo Federal destacó que el encuentro se dio en el marco de los 80 años de las relaciones diplomáticas entre ambas naciones y de 200 años del establecimiento del primer consulado suizo en el país, que se cumplirán en 2027.
Puntualizó que, con el acuerdo comercial bilateral en 2025, el intercambio entre México y Suiza ascendió a 4 mil 272 millones de dólares (mdd). Y resaltó que entre ambos países existe una gran cooperación en materia de patrimonio cultural, lo que ha permitido el regreso de 67 objetos culturales a México desde 2018, de los estilos Queréndaro, Loma Alta, de Michoacán; Chupícuaro, Ixtlán del Río y Ameca, Etzatlán, así como Comala y Ortices, Tuxcacuesco, del occidente del país.
Agregó que durante el encuentro también hubo coincidencias en la agenda global en la que ambos países son pacifistas, convencidos de la solución pacífica de las controversias que rechazan las violaciones al derecho internacional y coinciden en fortalecer la relación multilateral. En materia de medio ambiente, añadió, concuerdan en la importancia de poner fin a la contaminación por plásticos; además acordaron establecer cooperación en ciencia e innovación.
Previo al mensaje a medios, ambos mandatarios sostuvieron un encuentro con empresas suizas, en el que se expuso la agilización de trámites que se desarrolla en el país y se constató la confianza en México y la voluntad de fortalecer las inversiones en sectores estratégicos.
El Presidente de la Confederación Suiza, Guy Parmelin, señaló que las empresas suizas quieren reforzar su presencia en el país y con ello contribuir al Plan México que impulsa la Presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum.
Destacó que Suiza es el sexto país con más inversiones en México, por lo que es importante consolidar la relación entre ambas naciones.
“Es importante que estados que comparten valores e intereses, consoliden todavía más sus relaciones y espero que mi visita permita a Suiza y México seguir en ese camino”, señaló.
Además, Parmelin celebró la organización de la Copa Mundial FIFA 2026 en las tres sedes mexicanas: Ciudad de México, Jalisco y Nuevo León.
